Yoga Center of Denver’s Iyengar Yoga classes emphasize precision in physical alignment to awaken and realign the whole body/mind complex. All teachers of the Iyengar Yoga method are certified or working toward certification through the rigorous Iyengar method. Several teachers have decades of experience in practice and teaching.
Yoga Center of Denver is clean, bright and fully equipped with props used in the practice of Iyengar Yoga, including custom-made wall ropes. We ask that students arrive with their own mat. We have rental mats available. Please see Studio Etiquette for additional information about the studio.
Yoga Center of Denver offers regularly scheduled classes and specialty workshops. For a description of our classes, please see our Class Description page.

Yoga Center of Denver Background
The Center was founded in June, 2001 By Craig Kurtz, Kila Lau, Gary and Donita Reitze. The Yoga Center is rooted in the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, and his children, Geeta and Prashant Iyengar of Pune, India. Mr. Iyengar believed that yoga is for everyone, regardless of strength, flexibility, age, or other perceived weaknesses.
At Yoga Center of Denver, highly trained teachers who are certified in the Iyengar method, guide students in developing precise body alignment. Teacher certification is especially rigorous in the Iyengar method.
A student of Iyengar Yoga is encouraged toward introspection of body and mind. This discipline allows the whole person to grow and transform. On the physical (asana) level, poses may be held to integrate the layers of pose into the body and mind or we may work toward a meditative state with a more vigorous practice. Practitioners may become more mature in their practice with the awareness of where, in their body and mind they may tend to overwork and underwork. Development of this awareness helps students develop balance and health.
In January of 2019, Craig and Lisa Wolf took ownership of Iyengar Yoga Center of Denver, and in September of 2020 changed the name to Yoga Center of Denver. In April 2021, Craig and Lisa passed the torch to Bryant Hadley and Chelsea Kyle Gifford to expand awareness of B.K.S Iyengar and expand the YCD community.
