Studio Etiquette

Welcome to Yoga Center of Denver. Here are a few things to keep in mind while practicing at the studio.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to us. We would love to hear from you!

It is best if you can plan to arrive early for your class. This allows extra time to find parking, check in at the front desk, use the restroom, and get settled for your class before it starts.

We understand that things happen and that you may not be able to make it to class on time. We do allow students to come in late. We do ask that if the class has started that you wait until the Invocation to Patanjali has been completed before entering the studio. Be quiet and respectful as you enter the class.

If you are sick, we ask that you stay home. We strive to keep the studio and all of the props clean for the health and safety of all of the students. Staying home while sick helps us all stay healthy.

During these unprecedented times of COVID-19, we have created safe spaces in our studios for you to practice. We have limited the number of students in each class and outlined spaces for you to practice while social distancing. Please remain in your designated space during class and wear a mask at all times while in the building.

Please avoid walking on another person’s mat and be courteous of your body, belongings, and props in relation to other students.

Please see our COVID-19 Protocols pages for additional information.

We have limited parking directly south and behind our building. It is easiest to take the Alameda Exit off I-25 then take a right on Broadway. We are on the left. Parking along South Broadway is available on the east side as well as the Washington Park neighborhood directly east of the studio. The RTD Light rail Broadway Station is directly west of the studio and is convenient public transportation for those staying in downtown Denver. We recommend not leaving valuables visible in your car anytime you’re parking in the city.

Wear clothes that allow for a full range of movement. The methods we offer in studio emphasizes the observation of poses for correct alignment and the practice of inversions. Therefore, we ask that you do not wear excessively baggy or loose clothing. Shoes are left in the lobby and the practice is done barefoot. Please refrain from wearing fragrances, as some students are highly sensitive.
Yoga is a time to encourage a deeper awareness and connection to your Self. Yoga Sutra I.2 yogah cittavrtti nirodhah Yoga is the cessation of movements in the consciousness. Silence your phones in the studios.

We ask that you be respectful of the props that are used by placing them back where you found them after cleaning them (cleaning products will be provided). We ask that the blankets are put back with fringes inward, blocks are stacked tidily, and bolsters are placed on the shelves with the straps facing out.

Please bring your mat. We do have rental mats for $2 per day. All other props are provided free of charge.

If a prop is borrowed from one of our other studios, it should be returned to that studio after class. We know that sometimes one may need to get props from another studio while class is in session. We ask that you enter and exit in a respectful manner. Please check an empty studio for props. Do NOT enter a studio during savasana.

Please inform your teacher of any injuries or health conditions. If there is something specific your instructor should know, please pull them to the side, preferably before class, to fill them in on any updates or status. This method of yoga does do hands-on adjustments, if it is not helpful or desired by you, please speak with the instructor before class. We strive to create a welcoming community of people to share the practice of yoga. Enjoy greeting friends and new students prior to class start. The end of class is time for peaceful reflection and respect for any students still in savasana. Please save conversations for the lobby area.

Feel free to reach out to us by phone or email with any questions, comments, or feedback.

You can also engage with us on all of our social media sites to stay in the loop of studio happenings.

We hope you enjoy your study here at Yoga Center of Denver. We look forward to seeing you in class!
