Description:
Join Jeremy Wolf and Devon Sweeney for a one of a kind Lunar Arts Immersion. Devon will focus on the art of practicing + teaching Lunar Vinyasa and Yin yoga, and Jeremy will teach Classical Yogic perspectives on the mind and sadhana, including an introduction to the practice of Yoga Nidra. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika speaks about seven clear stages to the complete practice of Yoga. Following the foundational “purification and strengthening” stage are the lunar practices or “cultivation of the moon” – those practices that aim to bring steadiness and calm to the mind. This is considered the foundation for working with and activating the potential of prana. If the mind is disturbed then it is said that the work with prana be disturbed, diffused and erratic. “The moon (mind) must be made steady in order for the sun (potential of prana) to rise.” Of the many insightful yogic texts, are Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. He states that the practice of asana is to serve the mind’s ability to be stable in the face of change when encountering the polarity of experiences. When yoga is practiced through this lens, not only is the mind properly made fit for meditation, but the ability to harness both the potential of mind and prana is strengthened.
The practices of meditation, yoga nidra, meditative movement, and yin yoga cultivate the lunar aspects of our being – bringing us into deep, restorative states of meditation through the relationship between stillness, breath and tension release. This collaborative, multidimensional approach to the energetic practice and teaching of the Lunar arts will honor the roots and evolution of cultivating the Lunar aspects of our being.
